As we say goodbye to 2019, I would like to thank you for being part of my online community. What will 2020 bring for you? And what are your goals for the next year or decade? What is on your bucket list – travel the world….buy a house….or downsize and enjoy more experiences?
This is the time when everyone reassesses where they are in life and look at making goals and to achieve new milestones in their lives. With real estate, many people may be thinking of getting into the real estate market and buying their first home, and others may be in a different position and potentially selling their family home and downsizing.
Either way, it’s good to know where the state of the real estate market is, both locally and nationally, in order to make good decisions with one of the largest assets you will ever own. 
In Canada, 66.3% of Canadians own their own home, based on Statistics Canada reports. CREA reports that the average home price on the MLS is $525,125 across the nation, and as of Oct 2019, there were approximately 463,000 units sold in 2019 year to date.
CMHC reports that 47% of buyers are first time buyers, and Ontario has the highest proportion of first time buyers under the age of 34. The national First time buyers incentive could also attract more new buyers into the market in 2020. If buying your first home is one of your goals in 2020, make sure you know about and take advantage of these incentives!
