Day 1 of giving is proud to spotlight Children’s Foundation of Guelph for the Charity of the Day!
On Nov 25th, the Children’s Foundation announced that they were able to have all 1341 families adopted this year (2020)!!! All families were adopted with the generosity of our community donors! This is how we do it Guelph!
The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is a local organization helping local families. Life can be challenging when there is barely enough money to cover basic human essentials like housing and proper nutrition. For many families in Guelph and Wellington the reality is that they have ‘just barely enough’ to look after their basic needs. During the holiday season, they have the Adopt-A-Family Program which matches donors with families in need in order to make Christmas shine a little brighter. Families are referred to them by social service agencies who have identified they are in need. Adopt-A-Family is about more than gifts under the tree; it’s about providing families with support and hope during the holidays. While children’s wish lists include all the normal gifts that any child would want, the families’ needs very often include basic necessities such as diapers, bedding and winter clothing. Day 1 of giving is proud to feature Simply Wonderful Toys for the local business of the Day!
Simply Wonderful Toys & Gizmos has been bringing joy to children of all ages in Downtown Guelph since 1992. It has always been a locally owned and operated, family run business. The current owner from Guelph, Michelle Lamont, has been proudly running it the last 13 years (since 2008), and prior to that she worked for the family that owned it previously.
