Day 8 of Giving is proud to spotlight the Guelph Welcome in Drop In Centre for the Charity of The Day!

The Drop In Centre was founded in 1983 by Sister Christine Leyser in downtown Guelph. Sister Christine started with the idea of creating a community space that was welcoming to all individuals, especially those living on a limited income. The goal of Sister Christine was to provide food and friendship, and connect individuals to the supports they needed. Since 1983, their volunteers have continued her good work; providing services to hundreds of people daily.
The Guelph Drop in Centre provides a place to meet with friends and have a meal, access shelter if needed, and connect with support services to improve quality of life. Their vision is a community where all individuals have access to healthy food, a safe place to call home, and the support around them to build a life they define as a happy one. Their mission is to provide responsive support to the most vulnerable individuals in our community. This past year, thanks to the dedication of their staff and the community support they were able to redirect their resources to establish an interim Covid shelter at a local hotel. As of November 23rd, they have moved this program to Loyola House at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre. They also opened their Warming Centre again this year which is open every night at their 23 Gordon St. location. Since April 1st, they have safely sheltered 363 individuals that were homeless – all with zero positive Covid cases! They are also working very hard to purchase the Parkview Motel in order to provide Permanent Supportive Housing for 32 individuals that are currently homeless. If you would like to learn more, or volunteer, for this fantastic endeavour, or for more details, or to donate please click here: https://dropincentre.kindful.com/
Day 8 of giving is proud to feature Kyla Duguay – Epicure as the local business of the Day!

Epicure is a Canadian company and began in 1997 with the founder Sylvie Rochette, and Sylvie’s desire to take charge of the food she fed her own family and share her healthy eating solutions with everyone. Kyla Duguay’s journey is similar as she looked at the foods her family was eating and wanted to ensure their lifestyle was not only healthy, but easy to bring to her dinner table.
She was looking for easy ways to eat healthy, satisfy picky eaters and save time. She found that Epicure provides only Real & Wholesome ingredients you can trust, while NEVER compromising on taste & quality. The products are all 100% Gluten & Nut free, with low to zero sodium & sugar. The products are also cost effective and delicious! You will find healthy meal solutions, spices, blends, desserts, teas and cooking tools. Not only did she find a healthy lifestyle, but she found a business that she loves in helping others with their journey. Let Kyla help you get time back for what matters most, and connect with her by email, phone, or check out her website here at kyladuguay.com or join her community group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/epicnourishment/
